Here at REC., we believe the online world needs better storytellers. That's why we train and launch tomorrow's media talent. We therefore organize two (2!) postgraduate programs: a functional one in 'Digital Content & Journalism' (at Arteveldehogeschool) and an experimental one in 'Digital Storytelling' (KASK-School of Arts). Here's what our students are creating.
With social video, we mean engaging video for social media. Online video is still king these days, and to obtain these skills, REC. is teaming up with social storytelling agency Chase Creative. They'll teach us how to find a good idea, how to script for video with text overlay, how to shoot video with smartphone or DSLR camera, how to edit these images and even how to animate text on video.
The REC. postgraduate not only contains a course on making and publishing a well-made longread. You will also learn how to make sure your longread will reach your targeted audience by using SEO and developing a good Content Strategy. There are a whole lot of stock photos available on the internet if you want to add an image to your article, but you can also make your own. You will also gain some photography and Photoshop skills during the courses.
If you know how, Instagram Stories can be really powerful for photo stories. Apart from Instagram, there are a lot of ways of telling live stories, that you've probably heard of but don't know how to use them exactly. Like Facebook Live for example. After the postgraduate you will be ready to experiment with all different kinds of live storytelling formats.
Virtual Reality (VR) lets you tell really immersive stories. You can make people see the world through your own eyes, you can give them the feeling that they're there with you. In the class about VR, you'll learn how to implement VR as a storytelling tool. You'll get the opportunity to try on some VR glasses with the latest documentaries and campaigns in it. You'll even have time to conceptualize and make a short VR story yourself.
In Augmented Reality (AR), you enhance the real world around you with an extra layer on your smartphone or tablet. Experiment with apps and tools and make a relevant story in Augmented reality in our masterclass and workshops.
